Artist Biography
Nancy Davidson grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. As a young girl, her teachers and parents recognized her artistic abilities and encouraged her to develop her talent. A local artist provided lessons from grade school through high school, focusing on work in pastels and oils.
Following high school, Nancy continued her education at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1976. Several years later, Nancy married a Navy man and spent the next two decades raising two children while traveling throughout the United States and the Pacific.
In 1995, Nancy and her husband ended their nomadic ways and settled in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. It was also the time and place where Nancy returned to painting and drawing in earnest, with the Lowcountry providing the perfect setting for her colorful, classical painting style.
Nancy delights in the limitless variety of subjects to paint in the Charleston area, ranging from downtown scenes and people to our secluded Lowcountry marshes and beautiful beaches. Her frequent travel throughout the Caribbean and Europe have provided additional inspiration for many of her still lifes, cityscapes, landscapes and portraits.
Nancy's work has been exhibited in Charleston galleries since 1999, and her work can also be viewed in Pawleys Island, SC. She has received numerous awards in juried competition, and her work resides in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad. Nancy is a member of the Charleston Artist Guild.
